On July 4, 2018, the capitulars of the Congregation of the Divine Word (SVD), gathered at the Ad Gentes Center in Nemi, Italy, for the 18th General Chapter, elected Fr. Paulus Budi Kleden, SVD as the XII General Superior of the Congregation of the Divine Word.

Father Budi Kleden was born in Indonesia in 1965. He joined the Congregation of the Divine Word in 1985. He made his first profession of vows in 1987, then perpetual vows in 1992. He was ordained a priest in 1993. He studied theology in San Gabriel (Austria). His first missionary destination was to Switzerland (1993 - 1996), then he moved to the Formation house in Ledalero (Indonesia). He was a member of the Provincial Council of the ENDE Province (Indonesia), from 2005 to 2008. In 2012, he was elected General Councilor. He will continue in that position until he assumes the position of Superior General in a few months.

Please join us in congratulating Fr. Paul Budi Kleden, the new Superior General of the Divine Word Missionaries! Fr. Kleden becomes the 12th Superior General in our 143 year history, and he's our first Superior General from Indonesia, a country which constitutes the largest concentration of SVDs in the world with nearly 1,700 members out of a total 6,000 SVDs worldwide. May God bless Fr. Kleden as he prepares to assume this important role of leadership for the coming 6 years!

SVD Lay Partners Congress in Brazil 2019

A new Missionary Congress of Lay Partners committed to the mission, was organized by the Brazil Subzone in our house in Santa Isabel, north of San Pablo, Brazil. 235 participants of which 118 were Lay people and collaborators closely linked to the Divine Word Missionaries met there.
