“I remember that great holy bishop they had, hopefully, we can see him on the altars,” said Pope Francis, reflecting on the first bishop of Quilmes with the Argentine prelates in Rome for their ad limina visit.

Pope Francis expressed his desire that the first bishop of the diocese of Quilmes, Monsignor Jorge Novak SVD, who died on July 9, 2001, be beatified and canonized.

He did so in a video message from the Vatican, where he received the current bishop of Quilmes, Monsignor Carlos Jose Tissera, and his auxiliary bishop, Monsignor Marcelo Julian Margni, who were in Rome as part of the ad limina visit of the Argentine bishops of the Buenos Aires region.

Recording of the message:

Dear brothers of the diocese of Quilmes with your two bishops, with Father Carlos, with Father Maxi, who came to make the ad limina visit as you are obliged to come every seven or eight years, now it is ten.

I take this opportunity to send you a greeting, I remember you very much, I remember that great holy bishop you had, Father Novak, hopefully, we can see him on the altars. I pray for you as you pray for me. Moreover, go ahead, always working and happy.

May God bless you.
